City of Katy Enhances Safety for the Community and Police Officers using Pexx Supplied Wireless Network

The police department of Katy, Texas (a suburb of Houston) has chosen Pexx, Inc. to furnish the department with leading edge wireless communications and data/video networking capabilities. This step into the future will allow the Katy Police Department (KPD) to protect and serve the community in an entirely new and more efficient fashion.

Pexx, Inc, a Houston based technology provider, will equip KPD with broadband radios and infrastructure providing wireless links between mobile radios, digital video cameras, recording systems, headquarters and remote command centers. “This network will provide KPD with the most effective, secure, and expandable network available” says Jennifer Greene, President of Pexx.

With this capability mobile patrol units and multiple law enforcement agencies will be able to transmit and receive large packets of secure data at soaring speeds. Now officers in the field, command centers, and headquarters will be able to communicate crucial intelligence information, in real-time, as they share mug shots, outstanding warrants, police records, and other vital information. The network will also provide real time access to footage from digital video surveillance cameras from both mobile and fixed locations within the city.

The network will include a suite of radios connecting all the mobile units with stationary bases around the city. The stationary bases will be backhauled straight to headquarters. All mobile data terminals and mobile video equipment links are part of a network managed software system allowing each mobile unit to immediately select which radio system has the best network connectivity and downloading capabilities while in transit, allowing headquarters to view exactly what the officer is seeing at that moment.
